SUMMARY OF THE SESSION

What makes a city truly livable? Join city officials from across Europe and the Arab world as they explore how diverse urban contexts are redefining quality of life. From inclusive policies to innovative measurement tools, this dynamic session dives into local approaches with global impact—bridging regions, amplifying voices, and shaping cities where everyone can thrive.

KEY OBJECTIVES
  • Contextualizing Quality of Life: Showcase the varying interpretations, needs and priorities of quality of life across different cultural, social, and urban contexts.
Unpack how cities are addressing these contexts and needs using new knowledge and tools.
  • Measuring what matters: Demonstrate how cities are supported in identifying and measuring what their residents value most, enabling localization of global
sustainability goals through a quality of life lens. Highlight specific issues cities choose to monitor and assess, and how this supports the formulation, review and
implementation of urban policies and actions, as well as the measurement and localization of the Sustainable Development Goals and other relevant frameworks.
  • Knowledge exchange and capacity building: Emphasize the importance of city-to-city learning and the practical tools to enhance city experiences, including
access to innovative data sources & tools.
