SUMMARY OF THE SESSION
This session will provide insights and recommendations around pathways for cities to enhance economic productivity and create jobs. This 75-minute event comprises of a presentation, and a panel discussion, which is geared towards high-level municipal staff and City leadership. The event aims to raise awareness of the role of cities in influencing productivity and jobs and will serve as an opportunity to present and discuss select findings from a World Bank MENA Infrastructure flagship report which will be published in the fall of 2025.
KEY OBJECTIVES
- Presenting an analysis of progress and gaps in city productivity and job creation across MENA cities.
- Exploring key urban policies that influence employment and economic growth.
- Raising awareness of the urban sector’s role in enabling job creation, based on findings from the upcoming WBG flagship report.
- Encouraging high-level dialogue among municipal leaders on city development priorities in light of productivity and employment goals.
- Underscoring the World Bank Group’s commitment to advancing the jobs agenda in the MENA region.
